🩺 Health & safety in Bali
Six basics that keep a Bali trip from becoming a clinic visit, and where to go: 24-hour hospitals and pharmacies.
Six basics that keep a two-week Bali trip from becoming a clinic visit.
- Water: don't drink untreated tap water. Use bottled or filtered, including for ice from untrusted sources and for brushing teeth if your stomach is sensitive. Tourist-area cafés and restaurants generally use filtered ice; roadside stalls often don't.
- Bali belly: stay hydrated and use oral rehydration salts.
- Dengue: mosquitoes here bite in daylight, not only at dusk.
- Alcohol: avoid unbranded homemade spirits.
- Sun and dehydration: the equatorial sun is stronger than it feels.
- Travel insurance: save the policy number and emergency line offline.
